Calling all new and expectant parents! Come to the Fondulac District Library, 400 Richland Street, East Peoria on Saturday, June 16th from 11:00 am – 1:00 pm for a few hours of learning, prizes, and fun!

Did you know that disposable diapers can cost up to $100 per month per child? And without diapers, a baby may not be allowed to attend daycare/early childhood education programs, which leads to parents being unable to work.

The Tazewell County Health Department would like to offer free diapers and other baby items at a resource event on June 16th. The Bumps2Babies event will take place at the Fondulac District Library in East Peoria from 11 am – 1 pm. This event is open to all pregnant women and families with a baby up to one year old. Topics will include: Benefits of a healthy pregnancy, Effects of smoking on pregnancy, Nutrition, etc.

“The goal of the Bumps2Babies event is to increase education and resources available to new mothers,” states Beth Beachy, Director of Birth to Five Services at Tazewell County Health Department. “Premature and low birth weight babies are more likely to have behavioral issues, hearing and vision defects and dental abnormalities. Our programs strive to reduce the number of poor birth outcomes of high risk pregnancies.”

The first 25 pregnant women or parents with a baby less than a year old in attendance will receive a door prize. There is a free event.
