Immunization Clinics

  • A variety of immunizations are provided for infants, children and adults.
  • Clinics for adults are scheduled on Tuesday 1-4 p.m. and Thursday 8-11 a.m.

  • Convenient clinics for children are provided throughout the county each month.

ALL children receiving immunizations at the Health Department must be accompanied by a  parent or legal guardian OR be accompanied by an adult over 18 years of age AND have a signed Health Department authorization form from the parent or legal guardian. Forms are available from the Health Department. PLEASE BRING YOUR CHILD'S RECORDS WHEN YOU BRING YOUR CHILD FOR IMMUNIZATIONS.

Recommended Immunization Schedule for Children:

Age                        Immunization

2 months                DTaP (Diphtheria-Tetanus-acellular Pertussis),
                                IPV (Inactivated Polio Vaccine),
                                HIB (Meningitis),
                                Hepatitis B, Rotavirus
                                PCV (Meningitis; Pneumonia)

4 months                DTaP, IPV, HIB and
                                Hepatitis B, PCV, Rotavirus

6 months                DTaP, Rotavirus, PCV, IPV

12 months              MMR (Measles, Mumps and Rubella),
                                Hepatitis A, HIB and Hepatitus B
                                PCV, Varicella (Chicken Pox)

18 months              Hepatitus A, DTaP

4-6 years                MMR, DTaP, and IPV, Varicella

5th/6th grade          Hepatitis B Series (if not received as an infant)
                                 Tdap, Menactra (Meningitis), HPV Series,
                                 Varicella (if haven't received 2nd dose)

9th grade                Tdap, Menactra (if not received at 5th/6th grade),
                                 HPV Series, Varicella (if haven't received 2nd dose)

To insure that all state immunization requirements are met, this schedule may need to be adjusted for children who begin immunizations later than two months of age.

Clinics for adults are scheduled on Tuesday 1-4 p.m. and Thursday 8-11 a.m.

  • The Child Care Nurse Consultant works with Child Care Connection at Illinois Central College to provide information to child care providers in a nine county region, including Tazewell County. Examples of education include safe, healthy child care environments: access to effective health, dental, and developmental screenings and follow-up care for all children in child care; provides education and training for child care providers and families, and consultation for providers caring for children with special needs.

  • Assistance to pay for mammograms and pap smears is available for women who qualify financially.

TB Clinic

*       TB services are provided at the health department on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday from 1 to 4 p.m.

*       Services include TB skin testing and follow-ups for positive skin tests as well as care and treatment for county residents with tuberculosis.

STD and AIDS Testing - Extension 235

         STD

*       Sexually Transmitted Disease testing, counseling and treatment services are available Monday through Friday by appointment at the health department.

*       Testing is confidential and a $21 fee is requested, but services are not denied because of an inability to pay.

*       Available tests include gonorrhea, syphilis, chlamydia and HIV.

        AIDS

*       Testing and counseling is available by appointment only.

*       Testing is free and anonymous. Results are given by appointment only.

*       HIV/AIDS Education and Testing Information.

Blood Lead Testing - Extension 235

  • Testing for children is available by appointment only.
  • Follow-up is provided for elevated test results, including nursing intervention and environmental inspection.

Hearing and Vision - Extension 255

    Christine Worlow, C.T. - Extension 267

  • Screening services are provided annually to children in Tazewell County schools at prescribed ages and grade levels, pre-school and nursery school.
  • Certified technicians provide screening, referrals and follow-up.

Communicable Diseases

  • Investigation of reports of communicable diseases including food and water borne illness.
  • Staff also implement appropriate control measures to prevent the spread of communicable diseases in the community.
  • Nursing staff provides information about various communicable diseases.
