Naloxone (Narcan) is a safe medication that reverses an opioid overdose and is given intranasally (or in the nose like a nose spray for allergies). Laypeople are able to administer naloxone to those experiencing a suspected overdose and are protected by the Good Samaritan Law.

In addition to keeping naloxone (Narcan) at worksites, TCHD recommends that organizations put a policy in place for naloxone training and administration. You can use the TCHD Sample Naloxone policy as an example for Tazewell County businesses. If you have questions about implementing this policy, please contact clynn@tchd.net.

If you have administered Naloxone (Narcan) to reverse an opioid overdose, please fill out the Overdose Reversal and Naloxone Administration Reporting Form and submit to narcanreporting@tchd.net.
